At Blinds by Design, we can help you create the perfect blinds for any room in your home.
Aluminum blinds provide the largest variety of any of the horizontal blinds. Micro-blinds have slats as narrow as 1/2 inch, while others styles have slats up to 2.5 inches wide. They can be made in a wide range of colors, so they are sure to match any room’s décor. Many aluminum blinds today are designed to resist bending or denting and they clean up easily with regular dusting or an occasional wipe of a damp cloth.
Faux Wood Blinds
Faux wood blinds give you the best of both worlds. They have the look of luxurious real wood blinds at a fraction of the cost. Because faux wood blinds are made from a synthetic material, they also offer easy maintenance and care. You’ll never have to worry about warping, cracking, or splitting in environments of high moisture or humidity. This makes them ideal for bathrooms, garages, kids play rooms, etc. Faux wood blinds are available in a variety of stains and paint finishes.
Wood blinds add a touch of warmth and elegance to your room while bringing a clean, natural look to their surroundings. Very versatile, wood blinds can range in slat size from 1 inch to 2.5 inches and are offered in a variety of finishes. A transparent stain allows the natural beauty of the wood grain to show through, while painted blinds go well with painted decorative molding. Choose a finish that matches your window trim or walls to make the blinds blend in, or select a contrasting shade to make them a focal point in the room.
Cotton cloth tapes can be added to incorporate color or your unique style.
While horizontal blinds are perfect for smaller windows, vertical blinds are better for very wide windows or sliding glass doors. The vanes of vertical blinds are attached to a track that mounts to the top of your window or door frame. Similar to the slats of horizontal blinds, these vanes can be completely closed to block out light, left open to filter light and provide a little privacy, or slid out of the way for an unobstructed view. Vertical blinds are most often manufactured from fabric or vinyl, but can also be made in wood or aluminum. They are generally more durable than draperies or curtains, making them perfect for high-traffic areas such as sliding glass doors that lead to the back yard.
Both vertical and horizontal blinds can be operated in a variety of ways. Most horizontal blinds come standard with a cord system that is used to open and close the blinds and adjust the slats. Vertical blinds often have a continuous loop of cord that is used to move the window treatment, however they may also come with a wand instead. Horizontal blinds also offer cordless options, making them safer around young children and pets, and both types of blinds can be motorized for the ultimate in convenience.
